The Boston Southwest Association of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts is preparing for its annual election of Association officers. We encourage all pastors and lay members to serve in some capacity. The process for nominations and elections is established in our Association by-laws. Any member in good standing with the local church may be nominated for office.

The nomination process is simple and requires the following:

Qualification Form

Complete the qualifications form via Google Forms OR download the form in Word, fill it out, attach to email and send it to deegantt4@gmail.com OR prepare a brief letter indicating interest in any one specific office and mail it to 25 Main Street, Suite 2-150, North Reading, MA, 01864

The officers to be elected are:

  • Vice Moderator
  • Clerk
  • Member, Committee on Ministry (3)
  • Member, Committee on Nominations (2)

SELF-NOMINATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Submission of Qualification Form

The Chair of the Nominations Committee should receive the completed nominations form no later than Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

Nominations/Elections Timeline

The Boston Southwest Association election schedule will be as follows:

  • Friday, March 28, 2025: Deadline for acceptance of nominations by general
  • membership.
  • Wednesday, April 9, 2025: Review nominations and establish slate of candidates.
  • Saturday, April 12, 2025: Present slate to membership and conduct elections.

Board positions that will be eligible for election include:

  • Vice Moderator: Two-year term – Act for the Moderator in the Moderator’s absence or incapacity.

  • Clerk: Two-year term – Act as Secretary of the Association and of the Board; recording notes at Board meetings and at the bi-annual Association meetings. The Clerk shall also serve as the Assistant Treasurer and shall act for the Treasurer in the Treasurer’s absence or incapacity.

  • Member, Committee on Ministry (3): One year term, eligible for re-election to a two-year term in 2026 – Act (in collaboration with the Committee Chair and the TABCOM Commission on Ministry) on behalf of the Association in administering the ordination process in the Association. Note: Two of the three open positions must be Clergy with standing in TABCOM.

  • Member, Nominations Committee (2): One year term – Act (in collaboration with the Committee Chair and the TABCOM Nominations Committee) to provide nominations to the Association meetings and to the Board for filling unexpired terms.
