Boston Southwest Association of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts | 2026-2027 Nominations and Elections
The Boston Southwest Association of The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts is preparing for its annual election of Association officers. We encourage all pastors and lay members to serve in some capacity. The process for nominations and elections is established in our Association by-laws. Any member in good standing with the local church may be nominated for office.
The nomination process is simple and requires the following:
Qualification Form: Complete the attached qualifications form indicating interest in any one specific office. The officers to be elected are:
- Moderator: (Two-year term) The moderator presides at all meetings of the Association and of the Executive Committee, serves as a member ex-officio of all committees, and serves as the Association’s official representative and voice.
- Treasurer: (Two-year term) The treasurer receives, collects, disburses, and accounts for all funds and other properties of the Association. The treasurer prepares monthly reports for the Board and Association meetings.
- Chairperson, Committee on Ministry: (Two-year term) Act on behalf of the Association in administering the ordination process in this Association, in collaboration with the TABCOM Commission on Ministry. Communicate with TABCOM, member churches, and applicants moving through the ordination process. Lead the team in the interview process, reviewing papers, and ensuring that applicants adhere to ordination criteria.
- Member, Committee on Ministry: (Two-year term) Act, in collaboration with the Committee Chair and the TABCOM Commission on Ministry, on behalf of the Association in administering the ordination process in the Association.
- Chairperson, Nominations Committee: (Two year term) Provide nominations to the Association meetings and to the Board for filling unexpired terms. Outreach to BSW member churches, recruit potential candidates. Lead the nomination process, committee meetings, and elections at the Spring BSW Association meeting.

Submission of Qualification Form: The Chair of the Nominations Committee should receive the completed nominations questionnaire no later than Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:59 pm.

Nominations/Elections Timeline: The Boston Southwest Association election schedule will be as follows:
§ Tuesday, March 31, 2026: Deadline for acceptance of nominations by general membership.
§ Monday, April 6, 2026: Review nominations and establish slate of candidates.
§ Saturday, April 11, 2026: Present slate to membership and conduct elections.
